Double Your Impact
Savera UK has been selected to participate in the Big Give’s Small Charity Week Match Fund! From Monday 23rd June 2025 – Sunday 29th June 2025, every donation will be matched by our champion, Global’s Make Some Noise, meaning for every £1 you raise, they’ll match £1 too. All donations will go directly to our Trauma-Informed Therapy Project.
About the Trauma-Informed Therapy Project
Savera UK provides immediate access to trauma-informed therapy and independent interpreters when needed, ensuring its services are both accessible and culturally informed. Many of our clients face mental health challenges and trauma-related disorders, e.g. PTSD. However, limited funding means we can’t extend this vital service to everyone who needs it.
Our trauma-informed therapy aims to:
- Help survivors heal from trauma
- Rebuild family and community ties
- Break the isolation and stigma of shame and ‘dishonour’
- Give clients their Savera, which means ‘new beginning’ in Hindi
“I spend any free time looking after my children and putting myself second, so the sessions have allowed me to have my time alone. It makes me feel like my problems matter, and I can sort them.”
– Survivor who accessed trauma-informed therapy through Savera UK
How does the match fund work?
MAke your pledge today
Fill in the form at the end of this page to make your pledge. Whether it’s £10 or £100, every pledge helps us reach more survivors with life-changing therapy.
Once you’ve pledged, you’ll receive email updates with everything you need to know, including when the donation window opens and how to donate via the Big Give campaign page (once it’s live). You can only donate during donation week.
Donation week
(23rd June – 29th June 2025)
Donations will open from Monday 23rd June 2025 – Sunday 29th June 2025. If you’ve pledged, you’ll receive a link to the Big Give campaign page when the donation window opens. We’ll also update this page with the link once it goes live.
Your donation must go through Big Give
All donations must be made via the Big Give campaign page to be matched. Donations through JustGiving, Enthuse, or other platforms, unfortunately, will not be matched so please donate on the Big Give website once it’s live.
Fundraisers, you’re in charge!
If you’re fundraising as part of this campaign, you’ll be responsible for collecting the donations from your supporters. Once the donation window opens, you’ll need to transfer the total raised directly to the Big Give page so that it qualifies for matching.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
No. To make sure your donation is matched, it must go through the Big Give campaign page. Donations made through other platforms will not matched.
Big Give is the UK’s leading online match-funding platform, connecting charities with donors and funders. In a match-fund campaign, The Big Give secures pledges from philanthropists, foundations or corporate partners to “match” public donations. So when you give £10, a funder adds another £10, doubling the impact, up to the pledge limit (which in our case is up to £10,000!).
Find out more info about Big Give here.
The donation window is live until Sunday 29th June 2025. Click here to donate. Please note that only donations made during this week will be eligible for matching.
You can donate by clicking here.
It will take you to the Big Give platform. Donations will only be doubled from Monday 23rd June 2025 – Sunday 29th June 2025 using a debit or credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or BACS.
Offline methods such as cheques or CAF payments are unfortunately not eligible for match funding.
If you wish to give £500 or more via BACS, please set up the transfer as soon as possible (from the 23rd June), as any BACS payment arriving after the 29th June will not be matched.
You are responsible for tracking your donations however you wish but here are some tips from previous fundraisers:
-
If you bank with Monzo, Chase or Starling, you can use a pot or shared tab to collect everything in one place to help you track your donations
-
With other banks, you can ask people to send you a bank transfer with a clear reference like “Big Give” so you know what it’s for
-
To keep track, you could use Google Sheets, a Notes app, or create a table on Word or Google Docs to help you stay on top of your total. We’ve created a Google sheet that can help you track your donations. Click here to make a copy.
Once donation week opens (Monday 23rd June 2025 – Saturday 29th June 2025), you’ll need to transfer the full amount to the Big Give page so it can be matched.
Please email [email protected] and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can during our working hours (Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm, excluding bank holidays).
Why is trauma-informed therapy important for survivors?
Survivors of HBA and harmful practices face isolation, fear, and stigma that prevent them from seeking help. This abuse strips them of belonging within their families and communities, leading to long-term mental health challenges.
Research by Savera UK and the University of Liverpool shows that nearly 1 in 3 survivors experience serious mental health issues, and nearly 1 in 7 engage in self-harm (Ridley et al., 2023).
Improving mental well-being empowers survivors to break cycles of abuse, helping them build safer futures, and strengthens communities, which directly contributes to Savera UK’s mission to end HBA and harmful practices for good.
