stopthewedding is an interactive film produced by young people to raise awareness of the issues of forced marriage, FGM and honour based abuse in the UK.
Hanna has just turned 16 – the legal age to be married but not yet old enough to marry someone of her own choice. She knows her parents are preparing for her to marry, even though she doesn’t want to. Unable to use her voice, she takes to social media to talk about her feelings.
We invite you to get involved in Hanna’s story as it unfolds over the next few weeks on Instagram. And find out live at, Savera UK's Youth Conference in Liverpool on November 13, whether Hanna is able to #stopthewedding, helped by the power of social media.
CREATED BY YOUNG PEOPLE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
Savera UK has been working closely with a group of young people from in and around Liverpool to produce the film and establish the Savera UK Youth Conference.
The project aims to educate young people across the region on the issues of honour based abuse and break down commonly held misconceptions about its prevalence in the UK.
COME AND TAKE PART IN THE LAST SCENE OF #STOPTHEWEDDING
The last scene of our film – when Hanna is due to be married will be filmed at the Savera UK Youth Conference, at Liverpool’s Lace Conference Centre on November 13th at 2pm. We’re inviting all attendees to take part in the last scene and help her escape.
